Gorgeous and rare set of six Gilded Age bone china teacups and saucers by Theodore Haviland Limoges for Burley & Company, a luxury retailer in Chicago that was an exclusive dealer for White House china (also produced by Haviland) in 1880. Beautiful Schleiger 1079A pattern of green and pink clovers on a band of gilt, with gilt handles and borders throughout. Cups measure 2 1/8" high and 3.5" in diameter, and saucers are 5.5" in diameter. In excellent overall condition, free of chips or cracks. Faint rubbing to gilt edges, though gilt overall is vivid, bright, and intact.

There is a wonderful article on the history of the Burley & Company store - as well as the prominent Chicago Burley family - at the Glessner House web site, under the "blog" section.
