COMMODORE 1541 PARALLEL PORT

The Commodore 1541 parallel port adds a connection to your 1541 drive.

Using the parallel port on a drive,  data transfer is about 300-350% faster than using only the serial cable.

You can use it with C64, XUM1541 or XAP1541 that have parallel option installed.

For use it you will need a standard 1541 drive, it does not fit a 1541-II and in 1541-C you need to modify  the ROM and cut a trace.

You need to remove UC3 CIA from socket and insert the PCB, then insert CIA in socket. Make a hole on the back of your 1541 and connect to the PCB with the flat cable.

IC socket may be with flat or round pins, upon availability.

If you don't want to make the hole you can hang the cable outside your drive.

I have also for sale a pack that includes also the C64 user port parallel adapter:
1541 Parallel port + C64 user port adapter

Hardware requeriments:

  • Commodore 1541 drive  and serial cable.

Important! Do not plug or unplug cables while your equipment is switched on. Never leave the parallel cable connected alone, only if the serial half is also connected, otherwise the lack of GND connection may severely damage your equipment.

Any question, please ask before bidding, thanks.
1541 drive and C64 not included, just for reference.
