Antique Vermont Folk Art Early 19th Century Oil On Board, Naive Painting, Dog. Incredible original 1830-50 folk art oil painting on wide board from a Bennington Vermont family estate. Passed down through the century, this folksy oil on board was painted on what is believed to be the back of a piece of furniture. 27.25” by20.5” by .5” thick board. Painting features a naive scene of a period gentleman and his giant furry dog friend. Note the proportions on the dog. They are fantastic! Unsigned, I acquired from a well known NEw York folk art dealer/collector. I’m just in love with this early americana Vermont folk art painting!
