Vintage Hand Painted Wood Folding Book Stand Holder Indian, for Holy Book Quran

One side is a young Indian couple during the day, the other side is an older couple during the night.

I'm not sure if this stand is painted this way for a specific use?

Folded, it measures 17" long, 5 3/8" wide, 1" thick.

Open it measures 17 1/2" wide at legs, 5 3/8" deep, 8 3/4" high.

Purchased at an estate sale.
