Each piece produced by Namiki is a genuine work of art, and this installment in the Zodiac collection is no exception. Each creation is individually created and signed by the Maki-e artist and takes at the very least three months to complete. The Maki-e technique blossomed in the fourteenth and fifteenth century as it was in high demand in by aristocracy and was used to decorate jewelry boxes and other Japanese furnishings. It involves no less than thirty processes and produces a most luxurious result.

This world renowned process is part of the cultural heritage of old Japan and is used to create some of the most beautiful pens in the world in present times. The pen comes complete with its original wooden box and ink bottle and documents.
