Antique 18th Century New England Drop-Front Desk Stunning Patina.

I purchased this desk in Gloucester, MA approximately 20 years ago; it's likely late 1700s and is said to have come from Salem, MA.  It caught my eye (and continues to) because of its beautiful form and almost glowing patina.  I've since had it in my home, lovingly cared for, but am now reducing my belongings as I prepare for a possible move.  As long as I've owned it, the desk has been a conversation piece with guests; it's a true beauty.

The photos should be self-explanatory and give a good idea of the desk's craftsmanship, design, and historic appeal.  Everything works, and I also have a key for the top.  There are even remnants of an old tax stamp certificate (see photo) on the underside of one of the interior drawers.  I am not a wood expert but believe this might be cherry or mahogany.  Wear is commensurate with age but in no way detracts from the piece.

A lot of history and beauty in this desk, and my hope is that it will go to a good new home, where it will be fully appreciated as the nearly 250-year-old gem that it is.  I've kept it in an exceptionally clean climate-controlled home, along with several other high-end antiques, in a non-smoking, no pets/no kids environment for nearly 20 years.

Due to size, buyer will need to pick up in Middletown, Rhode Island (right next to Newport).  It would fit in the back of a larger SUV.   Approximate measurements: 36 inches wide, 40 inches tall, 19.5 inches deep.  I am also able to deliver the desk within about a 50-mile radius, for an additional fee (please inquire for an estimate if you'd like to confirm before purchasing).
