Britannia has symbolised Britain since the Roman times.
She has appeared on the coins of three Roman emperors.
The first British coins to bear the copper Halfpennies and Farthings authorised by Charles II in 1672.
She has never been absent from the coinage since.
 
The 1997 Britannia Silver proof Four Coin set contains four Coins struck in 0.958 Silver.
