Bruce Springsteen’s 1950’s butterscotch blonde Fender Esquire is the cover star from his Born to Run album and made subsequent appearances on the album covers of Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band Live 1975-85, Human Touch and Greatest Hits.
Purchased second-hand in the early 70’s, this famous Esquire is a ‘53 or ’54 model. With the addition of the neck pickup the single-pickup Esquire looks like a two-pickup Telecaster. It’s illustrated here with the three-saddle bridge and steel base plate from the ’50s and early ’60s and the replacement tuners which were already fitted on the Born to Run album cover.
