I USE THIS GLUE FOR SMALL SCALE PRODUCT MANUFACTURING AND PROTOTYPE MAKING/TESTING.

It's so useful, that I have also used it for:
Shoe repair
Car seals
Gluing the rear view back on to the windscreen (10yrs and its still there!)
Fast dry wood gap filler
Bag repair
Leather sofa repair
DIY that needs fixing FAST!
Window frame and wood flooring (mix with saw dust using the plastic spreader to push it in.
Just use masking tape to cover the parts act you don't want the glue to touch)

Super Glue Tips For REALLY STRONG BONDS:
Surface Preparation is very important
CLEAN: Take the time to make sure both bonding surfaces are clean, free from dust, grit or grease.
Use Alcohol wipes or hand sanitiser as a degreaser.

SCORE: Score or scratch smooth surfaces for better adhesion. Smooth Surfaces like aluminium or High Impact Polystyrene must be roughened to give the glue more “Grip” area.

CLAMP: The parts should be firmly held together to speed up bonding time.

This will improve the flow and spread of the Superglue between the bonding surfaces. If you prepare the surfaces properly and clamp down hard. The bond can take a 20kg pull load for a small glue area.

Please see the photos of different materials with 20kg kettle weight loads.

PLEASE SEE THE PHOTOS OF THE MATERIALS THAT WE HAVE USED AND TESTED THE GLUE FOR.

Filling Big Gaps:
Superglue can be used with fillers, mix with sawdust from wood or metal for bulk filling gaps, after it sets, you can sand it flush.  I have used it to fill gaps on an engineered wood floor with sawdust as a filler.
It set in a dark brownish colour and looked like the wood grain.  This Glue will set to black or a dark color depending on what you mix it with. Please make sure you are ok with the final color.

How to make Super Glue Set Instantly?
You can either buy a superglue activator or use Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda).
This is a fine white powder that absorbs moisture from the air and when moisture mixes with superglue, that is what makes the super glue go hard instantly. This is useful if you have to fill deeper cracks of more than 0.5mm. You do not have to fill the gap 1 layer at a time while waiting for each layer to set then repeating it.

About Super Glue FUN FACT:

Super Glue was invented twice! In 1942, Dr. Harry Coover, a chemist at Eastman Kodak was experimenting with cyanoacrylate,  a substance used by the military to glue cuts and wounds shut without stitches.  He wanted to make plastic Gun Sights and rejected it as it was too sticky. 9 years passed before he tested cyanoacrylate for jet canopies, again it was too sticky.  However, he had discovered a fast setting and strong adhesive.   In 1958, this was sold as “Eastman #910” and later renamed to Superglue.

Super Glue FAQ

What is Super Glue?
Super Glue is part of the Cyanoacrylates Adhesives  (CA) family. It's real name is ethyl-2-cyanoacrylate.
Other members of the CA family are  methyl 2-cyanoacrylate , n-butyl cyanoacrylate and 2-octyl cyanoacrylate (medical grade that was developed to cause less  skin irritation and allergies.)

What is the Shelf life of Super Glue?
The shelf life of an unopened bottle is about one year from manufacture at room temperature,  but if kept refrigerated, it can be kept for 5-7 years.  Once opened, the shelf life will depend on humidity, temperature and how well you seal the bottle.  To make it last longer, please make sure the cap is sealed on tight  by keeping the bottle in a zip lock bag or air tight container.

How does Super Glue work?
Super glue sets with moisture in the air.  Moisture is trapped between the super glue on Bonding surfaces,
the more you compress, the faster it sets.

Can Super Glue be used to replace stitches when sewing on fabric?
No, Super glue reacts with cotton and produces heat (sometimes enough to start a fire). Depending on the absorbency of your fabric, Super Glue will more likely be absorbed by the fabric and wicked away until it can’t from a strong bond.  And if you are going to wash the fabric, Super Glue will not perform well when immersed in water.

Can I use Super Glue to make a fish Tank?
No, the water will weaken the seal and it will not be water tight.

What can Super Glue bond?
Any materials of High Surface energy.

What is high Surface Energy?
It’s a surface that attracts molecule instead of pushing them away.
A good way to test for this is if the surface can be made wet.
To get an idea of what is 'wettable', compare water on a waxed and unwaxed car,
the water will stick to the unwaxed surface but bead up and roll off the waxed one.
If water beads up and rolls off, you will need to score it.

I have bonded thousands of aluminium sheets to High impact polystyrene using this method.
Please see the photo sheets of what I have used this glue for.

What can’t Super Glue bond?
Anything that comes in contact with Acetone (Nail Varnish Remover)
Fabrics that are woven like cotton are not suitable.
Low surface Energy Materials like:
PE (Polyethylene - plastic bags),
PP (Polypropylene - Tupperware material) and Teflon (nonstick frying pan coating)
PVC and or PVC rubber (e.g PVC boots, tarp, sheets)

You will need a primer for this.
Basically, anything that cannot remain wet, even with scoring or sanding,
is not a good candidate for use with Super Glue.

Super Glue Safety Tips:
Super glue has a strong acidic smell, this causes breathing and eye irritation.
Always use super glue in well ventilated areas and wear eye protection and gloves to prevent direct contact.

Removing Super Glue after it's hardened:
If you accidentally bond skin together,
never tear it apart, dip a cotton bud in nail varnish remover (acetone)  and gently swab alone the glue line.
Wait and gently pull apart, repeat in small gentle steps. If you have hardened super glue on your hand or finger tips,  wipe it gently with acetone.

Removing Super Glue while it's still liquid:
You can neutralise and clean off wet Super Glue with Lemon Juice 🍋.

Seek Medical Help:
Any contact of super glue with your eye or  ingestion should be discussed with a medical professional.
Although Super Glue is used in medicine, the Super Glue for Industry and Household are more toxic and should ALWAYS be handled with care.  (Gloves + glasses + ventilation)
