RARE ANTIQUE CANAKKALE 1915 GECILME 2 KAHRAMANLARI. AUTHENTIC TURKEY WAR PLATEWARE. This is a very 19th rare body.

High iron, lead glazed Earthenware on a red terracotta body.

Made during the 19th century in the Ottoman Empire, the Canakkale area was renowned for its high quality, beautifully modelled & decorated ceramics, which were made by Greek & Turkish Artisans.

The day originally marks the decisive victory of outnumbered Ottoman troops on Mar. 18, 1915, against British and French warships which sought to cross the Dardanelles (Çanakkale) Strait, a major waterway to reach Istanbul, the then capital of the Ottoman Empire.

A superb example, would make a pertinent addition to any collection of Canakkale or Eastern Mediterranean pottery.
