Up for auction we are offering the 1st day issue of the 1958 Simon Bolivar stamp. It is from the estate of director Charles Vidor. Probably best remembered for his 3 films with Rita Hayworth - GILDA, COVER GIRL, and THE LOVES OF CARMEN. He also directed Sinatra in THE JOKER IS WILD and Grace Kelly in THE SWAN. Plus he had a few notable marriages: actresses Karen Morley and Evelyn Keyes, lastly Doris Warner of the Warner Brothers family.

      Vidor was slated to direct a biopic about South American liberator Simon Bolivar - produced by the renowned Dino De Laurentiis and starring Anthony Franciosa.  In 1959 Vidor died and this project never happened. We don't know if there were a few of these envelopes made for those involved or if this is the only one. Everything points to this being rare and a nice collectible for movie and stamp fans!
