GEORGIAN

CREAMWARE

SAUCE BOAT

STYLISED FISH

A fascinating and characterful small sauce boat in the form of a stylised fish believed to be of Georgian Creamware but please study the images well and decide for yourselves as we have been advised but are not experts ourselves in this particular field. The ‘fish’ is raised on a shaped foot with cockleshells and stylised weeds to the sides. We love the down turned mouth of the ‘face on’ aspect of the piece.

It is in very good condition for its age although there is one freckle (blemish) to the rim which may well have happened during the manufacture, there is a very feint surface craze line emanating from this to the inside only. It ‘rings’ well Dust sized spots from the furnace are scattered over the entire piece but do not detract from the aesthetics.

Displays well, an interesting lot.
