This mid century modern style ashtray is made by Frankoma Pottery   Every year, the company would manufacture pieces for Christmas. The Franks would give them out as Christmas Cards. On this ashtray, it says, "MERRY CHRISTMAS ~ Joniece & Duane 1980 ~ Frankoma".

I believe the significance of the Ribbon around the Tree was very relevant in 1980.  It was the year of the Iran Teheran Embassy Crisis, and everyone tied yellow ribbons throughout the year around trees in remembrance of the hostages.  So, I think the message was remembering those who were not there for Christmas. There was a yellow ribbon put on the National Christmas tree.

I am currently offering a total of 7 of these Frankoma Christmas Cards.  Please see my other items for following years: 1959, 1972, 1975, 1976, 1977, and 1978.  Obviously, combined shipping discounts apply for multiple purchases -- I only charge actual postage based on final packed weight.

The item listed is being sold as is, as pictured and as described to the best of my knowledge.  If you have a question on an item prior to purchase, please ask. Remember, when buying vintage expect imperfections as these items have a history and have been in the possession of others. I try to list EVERY flaw which would be commented on something in an antique or vintage condition – this does not mean all imperfections resulting from normal wear & use require comment. My goal is to have no rude surprises upon receipt.

Please see "About me" for the contract  legalese.  Boring, I know, but essential. Always happy to pass through discounts on combined shipping.
