I believe this to be a Chinese Peking Pictorial Rug.

18 3/4" Width x 17 1/2" Height (not including fringe)

Nichols style. It has as a early quality.

Lovely variety of trees, gardens, tower, pavilions and early Peking Chinese architecture. Two junks with mast rig and sail meander on the rivers and waterways. Artfully done arrangement of bridges and gardens draws your eye to the watchtower and the rising sun.

I believe this rug is handmade and the material to be wool.

This listing is for the rug only. Frame not included.

This rug was in a frame. (Picture 11)The rug ends were taped so that it could be framed. I have left the edges on the tape so that it does not further fray in transit. I leave the removal of tape to the buyer... if you choose to do so. The tape is very old and very sticky due to age. The frame (picture 11) is available if your are interested please contact me for a quote.

There is some tape residue on the rug backside (vertical edge picture 10)

****I think this rug photographs overall brighter in color than in real life. This vintage rug possibly has faded from when originally made. (Most like picture 9 and 11.)

Stored in a non smoking environment.

I look forward to working with you.
