A gold tone medal from the Stiftung Buchkunst “Best Books from all over the World” competition, held in Leipzig since 1963. One side of the medal is embossed with a book and building (perhaps a library?) surrounded by the words "Schonste Bucher Aus Aller Welt, Leipzig" (The Best Books from all over the World). The other side has a quote from Gorki, "Alles Bessere Verdanke Ich Den Buchern" (I owe Everything Better to the Books). Quality of the metal is unknown. Medal measures approx. 2.5"dia. Good pre owned condition, just light general surface wear, including some light surface scratches and a few spots of slight oxidation/finish variation - see pictures. No presentation box. A great and uncommon collector's piece!
