  • Historical Game: 1938 March 27th, Rare Press/Wire Photo after game 3 in the dressing room.
  • New York Americans(3) vs New York Rangers (2). Series were best 2 of 3 games.
  • This was the longest hockey game on record at the time.
  • Pictured at the end of game 3 in the locker room after four period of overtime the "Jubilant Americans" hoist Lorne Carr over their shoulders as he had scored the winning goal to beat the Rangers.
  • There was no score in the first period however the second period would put the Rangers up by 2 to 0 with goals by Shibicky and Hextall. Within the first 5 minutes of the 3rd period, Lorne Carr would get the first goal for the Americans and just past the mid-way point, Nels Stewart would tie the game. The game would go into 4 over-time periods, when at 10:38 Lorne Carr would score the winning goal, setting a NHL record for the longest game in Hockey.
