A fantastic antique Dutch ornamental silver serving shovel/scoop spoon, early twentieth century. Features ornate design with repousse and pierced scrolling foliate throughout, a cartouche with a farmer cutting his crops by moonlight to the spoon shovel head, and two cherubs presenting the bust of a woman (likely Queen Wilhelmina) to the handle top. Silver tone handle and gold washed shovel head. Measures approx. 8"l, and weighs approx. 72g/2.5oz. In good antique condition, displaying just general wear consistent with age, such as tarnish, light surface scratches, and a couple very slight dings to the spoon scoop's edges - see pictures. Stamped on silver handle with letter "E" minerva mark for Groningen assay office, stamped on shovel blade with letter "R" 1901 date mark, a lion and key mark (indicative of this being second standard purity silver, intended for export), and an unidentified letter "S" maker's mark. An incredible piece of antique Dutch silveware!
