  • Contains 1 Troy Ounce .999 Fine Silver
  • Obverse:  A depiction of Johnny Ringo based on one of the most famous photos known.  “JOHNNY RINGO” above the portrait curved along the circumference.
  • Reverse: The common reverse for the series, it includes many iconic images of the old west.  Centered, a blank badge wrapped with a cowboy’s rope, a horned bull skull centered, with opposing six-shooters at 10 and 2 o’clock, and finally, two horseshoes at three o’clock, and a small badge at nine o’clock with the Intaglio mint mark.  Hallmark at 6 o’clock curved on the lower circumference.
  • This is a BU Coin, is not graded, and may have some striking on it (see BU description below). The mint that makes these does a great job of producing nice rounds, but they are still BU, ungraded.

John Peters Ringo (May 3, 1850 – July 13, 1882), known as Johnny Ringo, was an American Old West outlaw loosely associated with the Cochise County Cowboys in frontier boomtown Tombstone, Arizona Territory. He took part in the Mason County War during in which he committed his first murder. He was arrested and charged with murder, but escaped from jail shortly before his death. He was affiliated with Cochise County Sheriff Johnny Behan, Ike Clanton, and Frank Stilwell during 1881–1882. He got into a confrontation in Tombstone with Doc Holliday and was suspected by Wyatt Earp of having taken part in the attempted murder of Virgil Earp and the ambush and death of Morgan Earp. Ringo was found dead with a bullet wound to his temple. Modern writers have advanced various theories attributing his death to Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday, Frank Leslie, and Michael O’Rourke.

ABOUT BU COINS:

BU is an acronym for Brilliant Uncirculated. BU coins are a step up from bullion coins, offering more detail. What’s considered Brilliant, Uncirculated, and what’s considered bullion-grade varies from mint to mint.

For example, here’s what the U.S. mint states about the difference:

At the United States Mint, the term uncirculated refers to the special coining process used to make the coin, which gives it a brilliant finish. Uncirculated coins are manufactured using the same process as circulating coins, but with quality enhancements such as slightly higher coining force, early strikes from dies, special cleaning after stamping, and special packaging. Uncirculated coins may vary to some degree because of blemishes, toning, or slight imperfections, including milk spots and/or slight scratching.
