Photograph Notes: This facility for platform staff use is very much of its time (c.1970). The upper box is marked "down trains - Deansgate" and the lower one "up trains - Piccadilly". Both refer to platform 2. Each box has two key-operated switches, one marked "to signal box - train ready" and "to driver - right away".
