Estimated Circa 1920's

MID-DAY CLUB

(Private men's club, gentlemen's club)

This listing is for an antique button die press - punch from a Mid-Day Club. There were several of these private men only clubs, gentlemen's clubs, luncheon dining places for business men in various cities such as Philadelphia, Cleveland, Buffalo, New York, etc. The ones I read about started in the 1920's. I don't know which city this die press was from because it doesn't say on it.

Not dated, but it is from the estate of button die collector and believed to be from around circa 1920-1930.

It measures 1.5" tall and top is 1.5" diameter. It is  heavy believed to be steel.

I am not an expert in the field of antique button making so I will share general information as found online. Button dies were used to punch/press the fronts of buttons so the impressions of the engravings-logos were put on the buttons. There would have been two pieces, a top and bottom, referred to as male and female. This auction is for the one piece you see in the photos (I do not have another piece) and I think this may have been the female.

Condition as shown in the photos is good. The patina surface has age and use, rub and scuff, could probably be polished up a bit but I am leaving that to the new owner. It is pre-owned, from the estate of a collector, being sold "as is" as was found.

Item is being sold “as is” as was found. Buy with confidence as I offer 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you have questions when item arrives, just let me know.  I reserve the right to ship either USPS parcel post or UPS ground whichever is better.  If it costs me less to ship than you pay me by more than my handling cost I will give you the overage via your PayPal account. Please view photos as they are considered part of the description.  Kindly ask me questions before buying and I will respond to you promptly. This item is pre-owned, not new and not perfect, but just right for the collector who will understand and appreciate its unique value.  You will receive the item in the pictures. Your satisfaction is important. Thank you for looking.

International Buyers – Please Note:  Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying. Customs fees are normally charged by the shipping company or collected when you pick the item up. These fees are not additional shipping charges.  We won't under-value merchandise or mark the item as a gift on customs forms. Doing that is against U.S. and international laws.

Shipping & Handling:  Shipping costs are what post office charges me with only minor handling included. Packing done carefully. Shipping to the United States and other countries if indicated.  Shipping to approved PayPal address.  I will gladly try to combine shipping on multiple like items. I ship promptly after you pay promptly. Insurance will be included in the handling charge if the item warrants it, such as fragile, antique or unusual collectible. Please pay promptly after close of auction since I do not want to file unpaid claim with eBay.  I try to describe items to the best of my knowledge.  If it does not say new or mint condition, then it is not new.  A vintage item will show some signs of wear.  Most of my items are vintage used, pre-owned, so please view the photos included with the description to be sure you are comfortable with the condition and quality before buying. Many of my items are acquired from estate sales so I do not know the prior owner or history of the items. Returns accepted within 30 days.  I reserve the right to cancel all bids if bidder has excessive negative feedback. I look forward to giving a positive rating to Buyer after a mutually positive experience.    42017
