Remains a carefully read, retired library copy - it was the display copy in library display cabinet - not a circulated copy - a display copy in a regional library. It is Tight - neat, no inscriptions except for the library marks on the illustration of the title page. Appears as in my photos - this is the exact copy!! A nicely preserved copy - superb!
Minimal discernible shelf wear to the black, the interior is tight and spotlessly clean on every page but the title page with 32 pages. THIS copy is the FIRST EDITION: Only printing from 1971 - the UK publishing by Basil Blackwell, Oxford.

Emanuele Luzzati’s settings of various operas for Glyndebourne have achieved a world-wide reputation.
This picture-book of The Magic Flute is based on the costumes and designs for the very successful production of 1970. Emanuele simplified the complicated story and provided it with pictures ablaze with colour and having that touch of magic and fantasy which distinguish Luzzati’s sets from all others.
This is a children's illustrated book telling the story of 'The Magic Flute' based on the 1970 Glynbourne production, designed by Emanuele Luzzati. The story has been simplified for young children, and the designer has created illustrations taken from the original stage designs for set and costumes. Richly-coloured, bold and humourous drawings in wax crayon bring the story to life.
About the Artist
Emanuele Luzzati (3 June 1921 - 26 January 2007) was an Italian painter, production designer, illustrator, film director and animator.
He was nominated for Academy Awards for two of his short films, La gazza ladra (The Thieving Magpie) (1965) and Pulcinella (1973).
