What does “ex-demo” mean?

This instrument may have been played briefly for testing and demonstration purposes, but it has not previously been owned by a customer. There may be some tiny cosmetic imperfections, but the general cosmetic condition is excellent and the mechanical condition is perfect.

Unlike most instruments sold online, this cornet has been professionally tested and prepared by our specialised brass technician. This ensures that it will play as well as it possibly can, right out of the case.

Product Description

Serial no.: 774812

The 184L is Bach’s professional, large-bore cornet, in a lacquer finish. Alternative versions are available with a medium-large bore (184ML), and with a silver-plated finish (184SML).

The instrument is supplied in its Bach hard case, with keys for locking the clasps. All accessories (the new Bach 7C mouthpiece and bottle of valve oil) are also included, and are brand-new.

Product Specification (copied from the Bach website):

Condition Description

This cornet has been fully tested and prepared for sale by our technicians to ensure complete function and the best possible sound.

The mechanical condition is excellent:

This “ex-demo” cornet is mechanically perfect, just like a “brand-new” instrument.

The slides are clean, unmarked, and properly fitted. They move smoothly and with appropriate resistance.

The pistons are clean and unmarked. The valve action is smooth, quiet and responsive.

The cornet blows very well.

The cosmetic condition is excellent:

There are some tiny brown spots underneath the lacquer on the first, third, and main tuning slides (see photos 9 and 10). These imperfections are purely cosmetic, and will not impact the health or functioning of the cornet whatsoever. In our experience, these minor imperfections in lacquer are not uncommon with Vincent Bach instruments, and should not be of any concern.

There are a handful of very fine scratches and other tiny surface marks in the lacquer (see photos 9, 10 and 11 for examples).

The overall cosmetic condition is very similar to a brand-new instrument.

Returns/Warranty

If on initial inspection you are disappointed with the item in any way, you may return it and receive a full refund.

We will offer the instrument with a mechanical warranty for 24 months, but only a limited cosmetic warranty. The cosmetic warranty is limited to significant issues.
