Antique Sevres style porcelain urn.

France, circa 1870.

This is PRETTY and MUSEUM quality, Sevres style urn ( or vase ).

Very classic form, romantic scene, 2 HAND painted miniature ( front and back ), very heavy casting bronze, and excellent HAND chiseling and hammering, perfect detail.

First, the uncommon and hard to find WHITE background color, add more elegance and luxury to the vase.

Second, the high relief ( raised ) gold gilding decoration ALL over the piece ( except the back ) is outstanding.

Third, the quality of the HAND painted miniature and flowers ALL over the piece, is EXCELLENT.

Fourth, the HEAVY bronze ormolu casting and HAND chiseling and hammering is beautiful.

Usually the porcelain Sevres style urns, consists of a lid, a neck , a belly and a base.

Only the very old ones the neck and the belly are joints together in a single piece ( which is this one ).

Porcelain is so thick ( old pieces only ).

Please see photos carefully to admire the beauty of the work.

H : 20 inches ( 50 cm ) including the lid.

W : 8 1/4 inches ( 21 cm ) handle to handle.

Weight : 10 lbs 2 oz ( 4.6 kgs )

The heavy weight reflects the authenticity and age.

Condition report :

I cleaned and waxed the bronze to preserve it from oxidation.

The top rim of the vase ( before the lid ) is not very leveled ( hand done ).

Old restoration on the top porcelain base ( pedestal ) , which cannot be seen due to the bronze is covering it ( see last photo ).

No chips, cracks or any damage in any other place.

Minor oxidation to the bronze consistent with age and use.

VERY GOOD CONDITION
