Art Deco woman in chair reading original work by Katherine E Parker (1940-2004).

Katherine loved to paint, create and laugh. She was a full-time professional artist who exhibited in fine art galleries and juried exhibitions for around 30 years. She was influenced by a love of illustration, a visual story and a personal enjoyment of coastal areas where she spent most of her time. She enjoyed painting and drawing in a joyful and romantic style from her inner eye and imagination rather than using any “reality-based” assistance such as photography or models.

Parker lived and worked in St. Augustine for 30 years and produced art until her untimely death in August 2004. She developed a unique technique creating monotype serigraph silkscreens overlaid with gouache, pencil and gold leaf. Her joyful style that celebrates nature and the female experience was also expressed in oil pastels.

A long time member of the Florida Artists Group and the St. Augustine Art Association, Parker was a nationally recognized artist who won hundreds of awards during her prolific career.
