Vintage original 1916 edition of The Kewpie Primer by Rose O'Neill. This is not a reproduction copy. It appears to be the first edition with a 1916 date and no other mention of earlier printings. The only thing that causes me to wonder is that the end papers are not illustrated and some copies mention that. If it is not the very first printing, it is an early 1916 printing.
This copy has a Xmas gift inscription from 1929. It is in acceptable to good vintage condition. The book was clearly used for many years and probably many children. The covers have fading and rubbing, some of the edges are fraying and the corner tips are worn with some fraying. There are light stains and light soil on the covers. The pages have some small stains, light soil, smudges, some pages have stray crayon or pencil marks. A small number of pages have tears in the margin area. No pages are missing or torn with missing pieces. The tears do not enter into the text areas. The book is still completely readable and enjoyable but is most definitely in a well loved and well used state. In those days, books were not as available and much more precious. They were in frequent use as well as passed around for years.
