Photograph Notes: This house was built as a shooting lodge for Sir George Steuart MacKenzie, 7th Baronet of Coul, in 1821. It was used in the Second World War to house the Polish Mounted Division and as a light casualty hospital. After the war it was put up for sale and split into flats, and later became two guest houses. It was converted into a hotel in 1978, passing to new owners in 2003, after this picture was taken, and continues to function as a rather fine hotel.
