Photograph Notes: Townsend pond better known locally as the Horse pond due to its former use as a place to wash cart horse legs after a day in the field has recently had a makeover thanks to a Lottery Grant and some advise from a local wildlife trust http://www.wildlifebcnp.org/ The pond was badly silted up and gave off an unpleasant odour when low in water. Further environmental enhancements are planned for the near future. Signs already that the pond bottom is firm making the clearance much easier.
