Photograph Notes: This cottage dates from the mid 18th century, and is known to have been in use at the time of the Battle of Culloden in 1746. It is said that the government cavalry were stationed here following the battle, this is marked by a cairn next to the road. A nearby area is known as 'Stable Hollow', this may have been where the horses were held. The cottage is now owned by the National Trust for Scotland. It is a Category B listed building, see the Historic Scotland report: http://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB8042
