Not a modern reproduction! This is a true vintage carrying case for students at the Star School of Dancing in the 1940's era. The graphic on the front is about as retro as can be. It looks like it was screen printed on. I'm referring to this case as made of black patent leather but will admit that technically I'm not sure where the line is drawn between patent leather and synthetic black shiny vinyl. It was definitely intended to look like patent leather.

Unknown where the Star School was located. It was likely an independent dance studio as there were not franchised dance studios in the 1940's. This piece was found in Denver, Colorado.

The outside of the case shows some age and wear with scuffs and surface imperfections. The handle is completely securely attached. The zipper works just fine. The interior of the case is very clean and has a cute red star pattern plastic lining. There is a small mirror and a pouch. The aged elastic on the pouch has stretched out.

The case would have been used to carry ballet shoes and perhaps a leotard and tutu or other dance accessories.

Rare to come across an attractive vintage case like this in such good condition.
