I recently purchased a box lot of Antique DOLL CLOTHES but was stunned to find several Antique ADULT sized hats in the box,
not doll hats!
The items were amazing, all circa 1890 to 1940 and totally unexpected. See the early Hawaii muu muu I listed in my store, which was with these items!
There was an antique man's Bowler hat, which is listed in my store as well as a womans large black Victorian/Edwardian era hat with ostrich feather plume, and a marvelous red velvet ribbon embroidered 1910s Edwardian era hat. All are now available in my shop.
What a marvelous find that I was not expecting. Definitely not doll hats but dang I wish they were as they would do wonders for my antique
dolls. This hat is a classic 1910s look close to the 20s but with the small brim I date it a tad earlier than 1920s. By the 20s the brim was mostly eliminated so this is more like a bucket hat imo.
The material feels like a plush, faux fur and is lined with a patterned black silk satin. EXCELLENT condition. The crown is framed with reversed black sequins, showing the dull side which makes a clever contract with the shiny black. I thought at first this was a fur, or faux fur I wasn't sure if there was a PLUSH type fabric available in the 1920s. I see this as a fall and winter hat.
Fits a smaller woman head imo .
These wonderful items survived in an Iowa trunk for many years and are getting scarce to find in such good condition. See photos for measurement of interior.
