This is a Jaguar JLM-12187 Reach Cable. It is used in the Steering Column of the XK8 1997-2005 and the X300 and the XJ8 1998-2003.  This is the part that usually breaks. Jaguar sells the cable with a new Motor for lots of $$$.  I am not a reseller on this as I make them and have been for over 10 years.  One of the common problems on these is the rheostat that tells the motor when the limit is reached goes bad and the motor keeps running which shears the cable in two.  Unless you know how to center the motor in it's travel and verify the rheostat is working properly, I recommend you turn off the "AUTO" function and just manually adjust the column as needed when needed. This is why Jaguar sells the cable with a new motor assembly for close to $1000.  If you have any questions, let me know.
