The leather used is vegetable tan leather that has a natural finish. Natural vegetable tan leather may take on variations in color due to exposure to sunlight, this is very typical and the leather will take on a beautiful patina overtime and use.

The stitching is done using a various colored threads and saddle stitched. I use a saddle stitch when hand sewing leather products. There is a significant difference between a saddle stitch and a stitch done by a sewing machine. To do a saddlestitch properly takes time and expertise. This results in a beautiful more durable stitch. If a sewing machine stitch breaks the entire line of stitching is compromised. If the thread rips on a saddlestitch then only that area is compromised. Also I use Ritza tiger thread, a braided polyester thread, which is the industry standard for hand sewing leather.

This cover has beveled and burnished edges. A specific edge beveler (depending on the leather thickness), which has a sharp metal blade, is used to remove the square corners from the edges of the leather. This leaves a nice neat, rounded edge. After the edges are beveled, I burnish the edges, which seals and smooths the raw beveled edge. This is a two-step process, first using water and then a burnishing liquid which seals the edges so no moisture can penetrate the edges and it will last a very long time.

All my product are done with loving care with a passion for detail.
