To the right stands Dock Point Clock Tower soon to be engulfed by the new Middlesbrough College. The clock tower has a clock on only three faces. The north face is blank. The story is either the benefactor, a local industrialist whose premises were to the north near the river, ran out of money, or he didn't want his employees clock watching.
