Frank Ivallo, also known as Frank Coleman was a soprano, not contra tenor, trained in the traditional methods which enable him to retain and develop his voice after maturity when his speaking voice broke aged 14.  His range was colotura soprano with powerful head tone and light small voice.  Using the correct vibrato of old, his voice is a MUST LISTEN for all trainers of boy sopranos and trebles to learn how to preserve the voice after the mutation.

He was born on 4-11-1901 in Hackney, the adoptive son of William Frank Ivall (from Basingstoke), a postman, & his wife Sarah. His original
surname thus is unknown; he died in 1986 in Essex. When he married in 1924 at Hackney Parish Church he gave as his occupation “Professional
Singer”. He is reported to have been over six feet tall.  The combination of name & occupation may be considered conclusive identification. His wife was Dora Gardner née Crocker
(1902-1991).
