Original title: Breyskar ástir : Skáldsaga vestan úr fjörðum / Óskar Aðalsteinn

Title in English: Volatile lovers : A novel from the west of the fjords / Oskar Adalsteinn

Description: The book is novel "Breyskar ástir" by Óskar Aðalsteinn.

Óskar Aðalsteinn Guðjónsson (1919 – 1994) was an Icelandic writer and lighthouse keeper. Óskar is best known for his documentary  literature at the beginning of his career. Hi was the author of many novels, children's and youth books, an anthology of episodes and other writings.

"Breyskar ástir" is a well-made and lively story, although the name of the story is admittedly very evasive. This is a comedy, rather an attempt at comedy, about a serious subject, told in a continuous, but somewhat unchanging half-hearted tone.

The story takes place in a valley in the West Fjords that is becoming desolate. A young man climbs out of the fjord across the moor with his wife and children, moves to a deserted cottage in the valley and goes to live.

But his struggle is in vain; it tells no one to struggle against the tide of time. He loses his children, some carry steel cushions to the ascent in the fjord, some get lost, some die newborn or unborn. The valley empties into a valley. Only the last ones are left the couple in the cabin and one camper. After twenty years of hard work in the valley, the farmer has no choice but to move back to the fjord. He manages to get over a house in the village to the ground; it's the same purchase he made at the beginning of the story. And with that, the story has come to an end - with a rather bleak ending. When the valley is finally deserted, an eight-year association of the valley dwellers is established in the capital.

About me

My name is Árni and I live in Iceland. I'm not a professional trader or seller - I'm scientist and teacher, but it so happened that I sell here the Icelandic Golden Root, Angelica archangelica, Arctic Thyme, Icelandic books, Bibles, etc. Why? Because I am interested in comparative linguistics and for many years I have been collecting and studying bible texts in many languages. I collect Bibles in different world languages and I spend a lot of money on the purchase of these. So I decided to sell the excess items in eBay to get some money for buying a new books and Bibles.

You should definitely visit my little eBay-store if you are interested in Icelandic medicinal plants growing in harsh arctic nature, surounded by the mountains, glaciers and volcanoes, which can significantly enhance your health. I can also provide different Icelandic books like Bibles, dictionaries, textbooks and etc., that can enrich your multilingual library.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need any items related to Iceland or the Bibles.
