FEATURED: A very unusual and
very adorable, frisky elf, or is this a pixie?, being, dressed in Winter white and the tiniest silver glitter sprinkled on his outfit
and hat- he's all ready to fascinate and charm anyone who takes one look
at this wild Christmas child- that quirky face with those puffed out
cheeks especially intrigued us and we had to take him with us! He was
made of spun cotton, paper & glue, using a paper mache technique, way back in the 1950's, we think, when
Japan had a huge cottage home industry going, making all sorts of truly
wonderful things to be exported to the US market, all hand-created from
the beginning to finish, each one unique, delightful and today very
scarce! We'd never seen this boy before- one look at those wacky cheeks and that great little face,
and we were in love! He has, as all boys do, a little surface dust and
smudges, from storage and age but we were very taken with him
just as he is, and for a ornament of his age, he's in remarkable shape
and very three-dimensional! We think Santa will be so surprised to see
him again, on your tree, as will everyone else who comes over to admire
what you've hung this year! We've never seen a cutie pie like this,
with those puffed up cheeks and adorable elfish silly vibe! A great piece to add to
your fantastic Christmas collection, as well as being a terrific, very
special gift for someone who has the Christmas spirit all year long and
loves Everything related to this special season! And of course that
would include yourself!
Measures:
@ 4.75+ inches, @ 2 inches across, this three-dimensional figure is
completely hand-made and painted, so no two are ever identical, and is a
variation on the paper mache technique, with a inner body of spun
cotton, then paper glued on to that, then of course painted and
sprinkled with tiny glitter flakes. His cheeks are not covered in paper,
though, just the cotton that's been painted, giving him a very quirky,
wild child look! Made in Japan in someone's shop or home in the 1950's
for export to America by the BLUME Co., he has survived for many
decades to be found at an estate sale of a dedicated non-smoking
Christmas collector who bought wonderful things for over 50 years and
stored it all very well. We found him, and his three siblings (two of
which had the BLUME/JAPAN labels still attached), in a box of tissue
paper, in a spare bedroom, nice and safe. Some very minor typical
conditions noted due to its age, storage and materials used, but
he's still remarkable to find and will be happy to live in your home for
many decades ahead! Sometimes it is the little things in our home that
can add such joy and fun to our lives, isn't it, and this little
charming guy will add a smile to your heart every time you see him, we
guarantee it!
