This is a clone of the Covox Speech Thing, brand new and built by me.

I'm using some of this "sound cards" on my vintage laptops that don't have an actual sound card installed (and can't be added one). Also works in a desktop computer if you can't add a sound card to it. Volume in laptops is a bit low and always need external powered speakers.

It works perfectly with emulators of the Sound Blaster and even Tandy Sound. Of course this doesn't have the sound quality and compatibility of a proper sound card, but its a long improvement over the pc speaker alternative... Some games might do music with the Covox clone and sound effects with pc speaker, it really depends on the game and settings used.

I don't install the 0.01uF tantalum capacitor on position C1, because it simply doesn't do anything noticeable, so the 0.1uF if really my default choice, but if needed you can set the 1uF filtering.

These Covox clones are all built and tested by me in small batches. I actually test ALL of them before sending, so you can expect a good working unit.

Important notes:
If you don't know how to use it, don't buy it. Information is available in the internet, like forums and youtube videos, just search for it if you want to know more. I don't give support because of diferences in hardware and even software versions. As an example, Prince of Persia for me only worked with the 1.3 version.
PCB design by Necroware. Search for his YouTube channel, great content for retro hardware.
