I have taken an interest in Beanie Babies, and I have tried  to determine exactly what it is that makes one more valuable than the others.

 It’s not the  little  errors like a space between the word and the   punctuation, or a missing comma in    the address.  If one has the error, it is  very    likely many others have the same  error. PE or PVC Pellets won’t make any difference  except with The Princess  Beanie Babies.

I believe it depends on six things:

1. The condition of the beanie baby itself including the  swing tag and  the tush tag. 

2.  How many of the same  item are up for sale right now on  eBay. If that number is low, that makes  the item a rare find! 

3.  I have found that  if the swing tag includes the style number  that makes it more valuable to true     collectors. 

4. If the swing tag has a star on it; and that star is white   rather than yellow, you have a very rare find!

5. If the swing tag and the tush tag dates differ by more  than a year (for example swing says 1993 and  tush says 1996, that is a rare  error and   a great find!) Anything unusual with the  tush and swing tags, such as an extra tag,  also drives up the value  significantly.

6.  The year the  beanie was produced (1993 was the first year  they became available).  The first and   second “generations” are more    desirable, generally speaking.  Also, it  matters how long that beanie was in  production. For example, the holiday  items may have only been sold in stores for a   short time. Others were retired early,  after maybe just a short  time.  These  were limited release and harder to find, so they tend to be in greater demand   and higher  in value.
