Subject: Antique print, titled: 'Marchionatus sacri Romani imperii' - A map of Antwerp. The map was probably published following the unsuccessful sieges of the city on the Scheldt in 1620 and 1624 by Prince Maurits. Commenting on the inset map, in which the course of the Scheldt is displayed, Visscher puts particular emphasis on the military reinforcements around the city. The Scheldt formed a crucial link in sieges of the city. The original map shows the city of Antwerp and the Marquisate.
