Remains UNread - it was a duplicate gift so the display copy in a private collection. It is Tight -  neat, no inscriptions or marks within. Appears as in my photos - this is the exact copy!!  A nicely preserved copy - superb!

No discernible shelf wear to the actual green boards HARDcover itself, the interior is tight and spotlessly clean with 573 pages - including 10 pages of plates. THIS copy is the FIRST EDITION: 5th printing from 1983 - the Australian  publishing by Melbourne University Press, Carlton, Victoria. 

There are many black and white photos & facsimile illustrations. Also with 5 illustrations plus 24 pages of plates and a colour frontispiece  

SCARCE title - this is an  UNread copy!!

In original emerald green boards with gold titles HARDcover binding, in publisher's dustjacket which are in excellent condition also - slightest edgewear from display(insignificant). A superb of the 5th reprinting with corrections.

About the Author

Margaret Kiddle was an Australian writer and historian. She wrote Moonbeam Stairs, West of Sunset, Caroline Chisholm, The Candle, and Men of Yesterday: A Social History of the Western District 1834 – 1890.
