This auction is for one original Pixley and Ehlers of Chicago, vintage 1958 menu sign. Each sign measures 28 inches by 22 inches. They are all hand painted (stenciled) on 1/3" thick plywood. Each sign weighs about two and a half pounds. These were found in the attic of an estate in Chicago that I purchased a few years ago. Several of the signs have a date on the back from the year 1958. A couple of the signs have the name of the restaurant on it "Pixleys" and Pixley & Ehlers seen on the forks and dish-ware in some of the menu signs that feature pictures. Some of the signs have pictures, they are photographs. Some of the signs have chipping on the edges, and some are in various condition, these are a rare find. Advertising signs like these were meant to be used for a brief period of time then thrown out so it's a miracle they survived in such nice condition. If you are looking for an incredible piece of nostalgia to decorate your kitchen, diner, restaurant or just to hang on your wall look no further, you found it. This auction is for one sign, the one pictured in the main photo, please see photos for condition and description. I have a stack of these signs with all with different menu options that I am listing separate. These signs are the real deal, unique, and a fantastic piece of 1950's mid century decorating nostalgia that show the effects of 65 years of inflation. Once the sign is gone, it's gone. Again, these are not commercially mass produced, they are each hand done and one of a kind. I will combine shipping, buy one the rest ship for free.
