This 1958 Texas road map was issued by the Humble Oil Touring Service. It is label “Spring 1958” in the map legend box. The graphic on the cover is a roadside park on U.S. 62 and 180 with Guadalupe Peak in the background. There were 2 editions of the 1958 (Spring) map--this one with "Stop for Service under the Humble Sign" on the back cover and another with "Three Famous Gasolines" on the back cover. The map was published by the General Drafting Map Company. This map is in excellent original condition as shown in the photo and came from the archives of General Drafting. Any dating or stamps on the top portion of the front cover were added by General Drafting.

I bought part of this archival collection about 6 years ago and the rest of it recently. I first saw some listed on eBay and bought them. The seller explained that she had a few more boxes of these from the General Drafting archives and I was able to buy the lot. Her husband and another guy were in charge of donating the maps to the Newberry Library when their company bought General Drafting. One pallet of maps would not fit into the two semi-trucks filled with the maps. They made several attempts to contact the library to make alternative arrangement for shipping the maps but got no response. So they split them up and took them home. She told the other guy of my interest in these maps and he recently contacted me and I was able to also buy them.
