Description: This scarse / rare large original old / antique medical / anatomy print / plate originates from Goverd Bidloo's landmark work titled: 'Anatomia Humani Corporis' (1685). The same plates were also used in: 'Anatomia Corporum Humanorum' by William Cowper, 1739. This plate is from the 1685 ed.
Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Gerard de Lairesse' after 'Govert Bidloo'. Gerard or Gerard de Lairesse (1640/1641 - 1711) was a very talented Dutch Golden Age painter and art theorist. Govert Bidloo or Govard Bidloo (1649 - 1713) was a Dutch Golden Age physician, anatomist, poet and playwright. He was the personal physician of William III of Orange-Nassau, Dutch stadholder and king of England.

Subject: Antique print, titled: ''T.40.'' - Tab.40. Tabula Quadragesima: This anatomy plate shows the colon with its blood vessels. Original legend sheet available on request (if available due to legends of 2 plates being on 1 sheet).
Condition: Good, given age. Plate and image in very good condition. Light soiling from handling. Paper edges partly uncut and irregular with small tears, browned. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
