King George & Queen Mary Christmas card 1914
THIS VERY RARE ROYAL WW1 1914 KING GEORGE V & QUEEN MARY CHRISTMAS CARD  ENVELOPE WITH CREST  the first Christmas after the outbreak of the First World War, all military personnel serving overseas received a copy of this Christmas card from King George V and Queen Mary. Although, hundreds of thousands of these cards were sent few survive. The recipient would not only have to have survived, he would have had to look after his card through pretty difficult circumstances if he wanted to bring it home.   Photos of the King and Queen on one side.   following message With our best wishes for Christmas 1914. May God protect you and bring you home safe. This message must have seemed quite chilling for those young soldiers who had not yet been to the front line, implying, as it does, that there was a possibility that Christmas 1914 might well be the last they ever saw.
