Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Pieter Stevensz. van Gunst' after 'Adriaen van der Werff'. Pieter Stevensz. van Gunst (ca. 1659-1731), also known as Petrus Stephani, was a Dutch draughtsman, engraver and print publisher, active in Amsterdam, in London in 1704 and in Nederhorst in 1730-1731. Many Museums hold his work. Adriaen van der Werff 1659–1722 was an accomplished Dutch painter of portraits and erotic, devotional and mythological scenes. His brother, Pieter van der Werff 1661–1722, was his principal pupil and assistant.
