Description: The book is translations of Holy Bible (New Testament and Book of Psalms) into Icelandic. The publisher is the Icelandic Bible Society. In 1981 they printed the so-called tenth version of the Icelandic Bible (the Bible of 1981). In this version of the Bible, based on the Jahve Bible of 1912, under the leadership of professor Þórir Kr. Þórðarson the various place-names were corrected and controversial verses restored and ‘Jahve’ was changed to ‘Drottinn’ (Lord).
The New Testament was revised again in 1994 and some parts of it were retranslated. In particular the Epistles and Revelation were revised by professor Jón Sveinbjörnsson.
