Beautiful, extraordinary, rare sculpture in soft vitrified porcelain (also defined as casting ceramic) enamelled and decorated entirely by hand. Depicting a seated lady with a large skirt and two pigeons. Entitled "The kiss of the pigeons" and created by the famous sculptor and ceramist Otto Maraini for the equally famous Turin-based Lenci factory. Signed under the base, datable to around 1920.
Useful information for the evaluation of the object:
You will find in the last photos, some of his works that went up for auction, always consider that 25-30% of the auction house rights must be added to the price of the hammer, and also that most of the works you see in the photos are smaller than the sculpture presented here, which is indeed very large, as well as beautiful and also quite rare. Published in the Lenci general catalog edited by Alfonso Panzetta, as can be seen from the last attached photo.
Final thoughts on the subject:
The skirt with a black background decorated with numerous large roses with stems is beautiful, and the checkerboard decoration made with two blue lines and one red, in perfect deco style, is beautiful. Fabulous face and beautiful cap. For those who collect Lenci or ladies with bonnets and/or birds, this is an unmissable piece.
