This is a coin set that includes two of the 2022 Germania Silver Fenrir coins that have been ennobled with gold and ruthenium to make the already detailed image pot. The effect is to make the image look 3-D and even more epic than it already was.
Fenrir is a mythical giant wolf that is reputed to be so big it could eat the Earth and Sky. In mythology, it is seen as a creature that could end the world. It was raised in Asgard by Odin and is kept magically chained by Gleipnir. While he was shackled, he endured unimaginable torture. It was believed that Fenrir would one day be freed by a great earthquake and will slay Odin in a great war of the gods.
The obverse side of the coin has the top half of Fenrir. He is depicted in great detail and you can see the hairs of his rough coat. He is shown shackled with an ornate collar and chains. He looks savage with his tongue lolling out of his mouth. The background has a kind of matte finish that makes Fenrir pop out of the coin. At the top of the coin is ‘FENRIR’. At the bottom is ‘1 oz Ag 999.9’.
On the reverse of the coin is the bottom half of Fenrir. He seems to be standing on his hind legs and you can now see that his feet are shackled as well. Under him is the double-headed eagle which is the logo for the Germania Mint. At the bottom right of the coin is ‘GERMANIA 2022’.
