To keep riding the road bike through the winter, you need the warmth and comfort of these boots!

Top Features:

Gore-Tex® Membrane

The first bike Gore-Tex® shoes launched exclusively by Northwave guarantees all-out water protection combined with excellent breathability. All this means top comfort feel on the move with all weather condition. The microclimate created inside the shoe makes you confront the longest trips out without fatiguing or overheating your feet. Northwave & WL Gore winning partners when you’re on the attack.

NRG Air carbon reinforced sole

NRG Air provides increased stiffness thanks to the new blend of nylon reinforced with fiberglass and enriched with carbon. As with the whole road soles collection, it features the AirFlow ventilation system. Vents favour an optimal air flow in and out.

Gore-Tex® Pique Membrane

The Gore-Tex ® Pique membrane shines for its optimal breathability, so as to keep your feet dry and comfortable during all weather cycling. It is well known for it’s great thermal insulation as well: Like all products branded Gore-Tex ®, to meet the high quality standards, all shoe components are combined together with extreme precision to achieve the best performance and are subject to regular quality control checks.

Speed Lace closing system

Speed Lace system is a fast and functional closing system, for a perfect hold on the foot. Just pull the cord and push the mechanism downwards, automatically locking the lacing in place. It is easy to release simply by pressing on the lever and pulling the mechanism upwards.

Warm and waterproof

I purchased these road shoes to replace a similar pair of the previous (Mk1) model. This model has a more rubberised outer (kind of like a wellie!) and a gore-tex lining. Unlike the previous version it does not have a furry lining. The shoe/boot is very robust and feels like it can shrug off any weather. I have worn them on wet/muddy roads and they simply shrug water and mud off. My feet have stayed toasty wearing merino socks. This new boot has a rubber toe bumper which appears to increase the frontal wind resistance and I don't feel any breeze through the uppers. Similarly there are a few vents on the underside but they must be backed by Gore-tex as there is no water ingress there.

I have no doubt that in torrential rain water will wick down my bibs into the boot but I don't see a solution to this apart from wearing overtrousers. I would still choose these over my summer road shoes and neoprene overshoes as they are very easy to get on and off. Northwave still include a lace that is way too long and has to be folded up underneath the velcro fastened flaps but that is a minor point.

Overall I recommend these if you want to save your summer road shoes and don't like the hassle of putting overshoes on. Very waterproof, windproof and warm but recognise the limitations in torrential rain.

I found the sizing to be correct so I am usually a UK size 9 and a size 44 fit my feet. I have wide feet but these are still comfortable even with thick socks.
