"Our animal friends teach us more than we could have expected, and love us more than we could have hoped.
That's why we miss them more than we could have imagined." ---- (anonymous)
When it was time for us to make The Difficult Decision for "Reggie", we were prepared to have him cremated, but not yet ready to spread or bury his ashes.
My woodworker husband designed and hand-crafted a beautiful box to hold our beloved pet meanwhile.
Thus Reggie continues to rest in our midst unless and until we ever decide to place him in the ground, where his physical remains and the wood containing them will decompose naturally.
Upon noticing this in our home, friends and visitors have similarly expressed the desire for such an option. So my husband made a few more.
These boxes are constructed of White Oak felled in the vicinity of Minnesota's Chippewa National Forest, patiently seasoned and cut to boards 3/4 of an inch thick.
Each is handcrafted in a one-man shop with individual detail evident in the dovetail construction.
A beautiful darker-colored stain is applied to bring out the unique beauty in the grain of each piece of wood and finished with a polyurethane coating.
Please consult the photos for general appearance and color, though no two boxes are exactly alike for obvious reasons.
The dimensions of these boxes are 7 inches high x 9 inches wide x 6 inches deep.
This is approximately 105 cubic inches, enough to accommodate the ashes of an animal up to 100 pounds.
Cremains are placed in the box through the bottom of the box which is held in place with four (4) #2 phillips screws.

We are so sorry for your loss.
